Ian Thrope likes them so much that he had a custom mold made for his size 17 foot. The rubber is gentler on the foot than most fins. The channels on the side of the fin seem to give the fin a bit more thrust than other short bladed fins. The channels also add a bit of extra weight to the fin which means that your legs get a better workout.
